IRDG Membership
The IRDG client base consists of 400 companies (including 120 core members), employs 100,000 people with combined sales of €12bn and accounts for over 50% of industry R&D expenditure in Ireland.
Membership is evenly divided between Irish-owned and overseas-owned companies and they range in size from 5-10 person operations (including high-technology start-ups) to the largest companies in Ireland. About one half of the members are SMEs.
Some 38% of the members have sales of over €6.35m, 41% have sales between €1.27m and €6.35m while 21% have sales under €1.27m. In terms of regional distribution 41% of members are Leinster-based, 34% are based in Munster and 23% are in Connaught, with 2% in Ulster.
The sectoral breakdown of membership is as follows:
Food/drink 15% , Software 15%, Chemicals/healthcare 26%, Engineering 22%, Electronics 8%, Software/engineering 8%, and other 6%.
