IRDG Background

IRDG was set up in 1992 as a non-profit independent cross–sectoral R&D representative group for companies in Ireland who are engaged in product and process research, development and innovation (RD&I).  IRDG has been successful in generating R&D funds of between €150 million to €200 million for its members over the years.

The organisation is a company limited by guarantee and does not have equity. Apart from the Managing Director the Directors are not paid.  The current core membership of 120 enables IRDG to be self-sufficient with two-full time staff members and a panel of highly experienced R&D professionals used on a contract basis to assist members.  We recently acquired additional staff through a recently awarded grant 'Enterprise Innovation Network- EIN'.  IRDG's aim is to have all staff members self sufficient at the end of the 3-year grant period through increased membership.

IRDG has a long track record in delivering for its members and in contributing to the achievement of national RD&I objectives.
